Theradome Review: Is the Laser Hair Helmet Worth the Price?

An honest Theradome PRO review — how its laser-diode helmet works, what the evidence shows, and how it compares to Capillus, Kiierr and iRestore.

By Daniel ReyesMarch 21, 20268 min read

The Theradome PRO is an FDA-cleared laser hair helmet that uses true laser diodes — not LEDs — at 678nm, positioning itself as a clinical-grade home device. The laser-only design and longer wavelength are its selling points; like all low-level laser therapy it delivers modest, gradual results and works best as an adjunct for mild-to-moderate thinning.

What it is

Theradome is a cordless helmet fitted with around 80 laser diodes emitting at 678nm, worn for roughly 20 minutes twice a week. The pitch is that focused laser light, at a slightly longer wavelength than the common 650nm, penetrates effectively while keeping the session count low.

Laser vs LED, and the 678nm angle

Cheaper caps often mix in LEDs; Theradome uses lasers throughout, which deliver more focused energy. That's a legitimate design distinction, but whether it produces better real-world hair outcomes than a quality LED-based cap hasn't been proven in head-to-head testing.

What the evidence shows

Low-level laser therapy is FDA-cleared and supported by studies showing modest improvements in density. Theradome cites its own data; independently, the category effect is real but smaller and slower than minoxidil or finasteride, and best suited to people who still have active follicles.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • FDA-cleared, using true laser diodes
  • Cordless and relatively lightweight
  • Lower-commitment protocol — about twice a week
  • Drug-free, one-time cost

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Modest, slow results that only hold with continued use
  • Fewer diodes than the highest-coverage caps
  • Not effective for advanced hair loss

Who it's for

Theradome suits people with mild-to-moderate thinning who want a clinical-grade, drug-free adjunct and value the lighter twice-weekly routine. Higher-diode caps like Capillus and Kiierr offer more coverage, while iRestore competes on price. For the best odds, use any of them alongside a proven topical.

The questions we get asked the most — answered straight.

Low-level laser therapy has FDA clearance and studies showing modest density improvements, and Theradome uses true laser diodes to deliver it. Expect gradual, modest results that are best for mild-to-moderate thinning and strongest when paired with a topical.
